Crafting Holiday Cards with Spellbinders' Merry Moments

Aug 17, 2025

Share

Hello Friends and welcome back. Today I am sharing a few products from the Merry Moments Collection from Spellbinders.

First up the Gifting Bow die set. I created 2 cards using this set, the bow is so versatile.

  • This first card uses just the bow die with silver glitter cardstock. I doubled each of the bows to make them fuller. This card came together so quickly. I will do a video soon to show you how.
  • The background uses the Petite Criss Cross Betterpress Plate with Ruby Delicata Ink on Simon Says Stamp SchoolHouse Red cardstock. I placed the plate in my BetterPress System and inked it up with the Ruby Delicata Ink and ran it through my die cutting machine. The red Delicata ink is so subtle but adds just enough shimmer to the background to complement the main panel. This red cardstock is the best red for holiday cards.
  • I then used red foil with the Joy to the World Betterpress Plate on Brushed White cardstock with my Glimmer System. It is so hard to pick up the shimmer in photos, but in real life the red foil and the metallic white paper, it's a show stopper.
  • I die cut the center piece with this die from Simon Says Stamp, but if you have it, you could use this die from Spellbinders.
  • I also popped up the back of the center piece with some craft foam. This allowed me to tuck the ends of the ribbon underneath the center piece.
  • For the background if you switch out the Petite Criss Cross Betterpress Plate and use the Argyle Plaid 3D Folder, You will not be disappointed.
  • I used the Petite Criss Cross plate so the bows would stand out more. But before I adhered the center down I checked it against the Argyle Plaid 3D folder and let's just say it's on my design list for this holiday season.

Sale Alert: If you have been eyeing a BetterPress System...I found it on sale at Amazon for $59.99, I bought from this same seller in May of 2024 for the same price. Have no fear of buying on Amazon, it is a genuine product that ships from Amazon and if you are a Prime member, you get free shipping.

What I love about all Spellbinders die sets, they each give you so many elements that can be used to create many different cards. For example, I used the bow in the set, but it also has ornaments, greenery, florals, berries and sentiments. All great

Next up: The same Gifting Bow Die set, but I added in the new Christmas Cameos 3D Folder

This time I paired the bow with the Winterberry and Mistletoe die set from Spellbinders/Susan Tierney Cockburn. The Winterberry and Mistletoe die set is an older item and I found it on sale.

Sale Alert: Kat Scrappiness has the Winterberry and Mistletoe die set on clearance for $10.99 right now!

  • I used a combination of green inks, (Versafine Clair - Grass Green, Shady Lane and Rainforest) to color the Mistletoe and for the white berries I used Nuvo Dream Drops in Cloud 9.
  • For the bow I used Simon Says Stamps Schoolhouse Red cardstock and also used it on the back for the sentiment.
  • Speaking of the sentiment, this comes in the die set as well and I used the Brushed White cardstock here too. I really love this metallic white cardstock it adds such a simple elegance without over powering. If you have trouble finding it in stock, try this one. It is another favorite, Stardream Metallic Crystal. It's very similar. Maybe a bit thicker, but wonderful. Here is a great way to try it and it's only $2.49, I normally buy it this way so I can get more colors 😊 The first one I linked to are full size sheets. the $2.49 one is 5x7.
  • The background was embossed using the Christmas Cameos 3D Embossing folder with Midnight Green cardstock from Simon Says Stamp.
  • I placed it not so well... on a white card base. If you grab this card stock, make sure you check the weight and select appropriately in the drop down. It comes in 80, 100 and 110 lb. I listed some others in the full list of supplies as well. I like to give you all the options when shopping.

Last up is the Merry Moments Dimensional Snowflakes. I used these in a very simple way, but these would also look beautiful on a card front.

These snowflakes are like stickers except they have a flat bottom and the raised portion which you see in the photo frame. I separated them and only used the raised snowflake. This was my Imagine project for July using some All Purpose Inks to color a cheap wooden photo frame that I got from Wally World.

This was quick to create and gave me a different kind of holiday decor this season.

Well my friends, that's a wrap! I hope this sparks some holiday inspiration for the upcoming season. I have toyed with a holiday card series...what do you think and when would you like it to start. Some start early, some wait til after Thanksgiving...which would work better for you or are there too many holiday card series out there already. Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts.

Thanks for checkin out the blog today. I appreciate you and all your support.

I hope you have a fantastic day and I will catch you real soon.

Oh, and if you made it this far, (thank you). I know it's a lot of info, but if you're reading this in your email, do check out the blog for the full list of products used. I decided to change the format so that when you click on a product it will take you right to it, instead of a list and then having to click again. Basically I eliminated a click or two to get you where you want to go. The down side, I can't get it to show up that way with the newsletter program I use. On the plus side, I peppered most of the links throughout the post. So unless I missed something you can shop right from your email. Hope that's not too confusing.

One more thing. If you are shopping, today only (8.17.25) Scrapbook.com is having 10% off and a bunch of cool freebies with purchase. Use code Kindness for the 10% off and be sure and check out their freebies.

Please Note: Affiliate links have been used at NO additional cost to you. When you click the link AND make a purchase, I may earn a small commission. This helps keep things running here on my blog and YouTube channel and keeps it ad free (not a bunch of pop ups). Please note, you may have to accept cookies in order for me to get credit for the sale. Thanks for your support.
