Creative Cardmaking with Spellbinders Clubs

Hello friends! I am back to share several more Spellbinders Clubs with you through the rest of the year. I am a little late in the month 😬 but I promise this will be quick. And next month much sooner 😊

I created 3 cards for you today combining several of the clubs together. What I love about Spellbinders Clubs is they all coordinate together, so you can choose one or all of the clubs and you still get so much value with each of the sets that can be used in many different ways.

The clubs I am sharing are: 

  • Clear Stamp and Coordinating Die of the Month
  • Embossing Folder of the Month, this is a standard impression
  • 3D Embossing Folder of the Month
  • Glimmer of the Month
  • Stitched Die of the Month (this is what I usually share)
  • Stencil of the Month
  • Wax Seal of the Month (this is what I usually share)

The pic below and at the very top, shows The Clear Stamp & Die of the Month and the Embossing Folder of the Month. One thing to note, you can sign up for only the Stamp set of the month and then there is an additional Stamp & Coordinating die of the month. If you like to fussy cut or have a Brother Scan and Cut, you can sign up for only the Clear Stamp of the Month club, which is great!

  • Card base is just Kraft color Cardstock- Mine is called Oatmeal from Fun Stampers Journey (Old Stuff) I listed one that is similar below, but use what you have.
  • The dark brown Layer is from Simon Says Stamp, Dark Chocolate. I embossed the panel with this months Embossing Folder Club. It is a nice autumn leaf background. Great item to have for backgrounds. 
  • The Green panel was die cut using the Fresh Picked Labels die. The green cardstock is another old one from Maker Forte, Everglades. I linked a couple that looked similar down below. This months Stamp club has a large image that stamps all those elements you see. Great for quick backgrounds. I used Versamark Ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder. The set also has some great sentiments, I used one of them on this card.
  • I used my Stampwheel so I could stamp easily the top and bottom without having to move everything. this left a small gap between each stamping (essentially a blank line) I used my sentiment strip to cover it. Once I had the sentiment adhered with some double sided tape, I trimmed the ends to match the curve of the die cut. 
  • I used some foam tape to pop the stamped die cut layer off the embossed background and then took a thick piece of jute twine and made a bow and used some liquid glue to adhere it. Those reversible tweezers are great for this...lol
  • Once everything dried I added some double sided adhesive to the back of the main panel and added it to the Kraft card base. 
  • This particular set comes with a coordinating stencil when you subscribe to the Caboodle Club ( the caboodle club gets you all the clubs for a low price) I didn't receive the stencil so I couldn't show it.

 

Next up: Wax Seal of the month, Stencil of the Month and 3D Embossing Folder of the Month

  • Card Base, again I used the Oatmeal cardstock (any Kraft color will do)
  • Dark Brown Layer Simon's Dark Chocolate cardstock embossed using the 3D Folder of the Month. This folder reminds me of a patchwork quilt pattern. Great for all kinds of backdrops.
  • I used the Fresh Picked die to cut the center for a window. 
  • I used some Distress inks Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, a little Crackling Campfire, Walnut Stain and Brushed Corduroy to color my stencil pieces. The Stencil of the month is a layering stencil set, another great one for quick backgrounds and has 5 layers. This is my first month using it so I am not sure if every month has 5 layers, but we will see as we go along...lol
  • The cardstock I used for the stenciling is the popular Hammermill that people use for hot foiling. It is super, super smooth and made for nice ink blending to color the stencils. I used my Stampwheel which held everything in place.
  • I used a piece of 48 lb vellum to cover and diffuse the stenciling...I'm not great at lining things up and diffusing the background takes your eye off it...
  • I used double sided adhesive to attach the layers together.
  • This months Wax Seal is an Owl, how cool! In the Clear Stamp of the Month the sentiment spoke to me so I wanted to use some twine to "hang" the seal from. I tucked the twine between the die cut and the opening over top of the vellum and used some scotch tape to hold down the extra on the back of the panel. I needed the string over the vellum to stay straight, so I balled up some double sided adhesive and adhered the end of the string to it. The wax covers it beautifully. If you have glue dots that will work to hold the string straight as well. The twine I used is much thinner than the thick Jute twine I used in the first card.

 

Last but not least: Glimmer of the Month, Stitched Die of the Month, 3D Folder of the Month and Clear Stamp and Die of the Month.

  • This one had me stumped...I had to google what colors go well with copper...lol And started piecing together cardstock scraps I already had. Dark Navy Blue, Dark Grey, Pearl Ivory and White ( for the hot foiling)
  • I used the Glimmer of the month plate with some copper foil on the white Hammermill cardstock and set aside, cause I just wasn't sure where this was headed. 
  • I used some pearl cardstock from the Sizzix Ivory Opulent pack and die cut the pumpkins from the Stitching Die club and sat down to do the stitching. I figured green would look good with the blue and grey. 
  • I used another piece of the pearl ivory opulent card and die cut a piece with the Fresh Picked die and embossed it using the 3D folder. 
  • I used some Copper Metallic ink (Delicata Celestial Copper to be specific) and clear gloss embossing powder to stamp the sentiment and used the coordinating die to cut it out. 
  • I had to clear emboss because the pearl ivory opulent cardstock has a coating and the pigment ink would have never dried. You could easily use copper embossing powder and save a step, but that is one I don't have. You could also use another color, but I thought it went well with the color theme. 
  • This would make a great masculine card as well.
